Note: You need to have completed Station 4 before doing this station.
Use the information that you gathered from Station 4 about any plant’s height and the amount of ground space it will need.
Step 1: Using a tape measure, yardstick or ruler to measure the height of the plant on a piece of the register tape paper roll. Near the top, label the strip with the common name of your plant AND the scientific Latin name.
Step 2: Tape the paper strip to the wall. Locate the color photograph of your plant and tape it above the paper strip.
Step 3: Use the “leaves” to record additional information about your plant. Add the leaves to your paper strip. This information would include soil type, water requirements, sun/shade recommendations, when to plant seeds indoors or outdoors, when the plant will bloom, etc.
Step 4: Use one more leaf to record the names of the people in your group.
Step 5: Tape all of the leaves to your plant’s stem.
Step 6: Using bulletin board paper, measure a circle with the diameter needed for your plant’s space in the garden. Label the circle with the common name of your plant AND the scientific Latin name. Also write the names of the people in your group. Turn this in to use when you begin the garden layout.
When you are done, write the clock time on your packet. This is Station #8.
